Welcome to the Ottawa West Dental Hygiene Study Club. The goal of this study club is to offer exceptional, unbiased educational opportunities for dental hygienists in the West of Ottawa.

Thursday March 26, 2020, 5:30-8pm

Dr. Suzette Guo - Oral Pathology: lumps, bumps and other fun things

Hygienists are most often the first person to detect oral lesion of the soft tissue. This session will review the most common red, white (and other colourful) lesions in the oral cavity and what to do if you see them. We will couple a short presentation with some sample cases for group discussion and participation.

2017 Periodontal & Peri-Implant Classifications

We will review the 2017 Classification of Periodontal and Per-Implant Diseases and Conditions. Using cases and discussion we will aim to help you implement this system into your practice.

Dr. Sandra Chong - Medical Marijuana

Medical and recreational marijuana use in Canada is more prevalent than ever before. An overview of this rapidly developing topic and it’s oral healthcare considerations will be presented based on the most recent scientific data.

Dr. Amy Yeung - Periodontal Systemic Relations:
Implications for hygiene practices
Dr. Amy Yeung is a board-certified periodontist with a special interest in periodontal plasticsurgery and implant surgery. She maintains a private practice in Toronto.

An update on the association of different systemic diseases with periodontal disease.
Dr. Yeung will allow you to confidently answer questions and explain periodontal medicine to patients and other medical professionals.
